Workshops

Kids love to retell tales and sharpen their language arts skills
Workshops come in two kinds:
- Professional Development for teachers, youth leaders, well, anyone who works with kids and would like to use the skills and fun of storytelling to entertain, educate and improve oral language arts and literacy skills in the children with whom they work. Learn why storytelling is so important, beneficial and fun. Learn specific techniques and background in folktales and telling. Learn how to capture kids’ attention and be an overall more aware presenter, yourself.
- For children in preschool-grade 8 who need to improve their oral language skills. Excellent for English Language Learners. Students of all ages learn how to present themselves, and they learn how to tell folktales in front of a group. Benefits are phenomenal, including pre-writing and reading skill-building. Students play with story using a number of approaches that keep it fun, varied, and respect learning styles. Are you concerned about meeting learning standards outcomes? Wonderful! because Mary Jo has it “down to a science,” with all activities correlating by the number to learning standards! How cool is that?!
